*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
I was so excited for the release of this book, I had been following the author Crystal on Facebook to follow the progress of this book so I was over the moon when she asked if I would like to read it. Um yes please!
In the Air is a sweet romance set in the world of ballet. My favourite film as a teenager was Save the Last Dance (I may have been obsessed with this) so any book that combines love and ballet has my vote to begin with!
Crystal’s writing flowed effortlessly, I was drawn in to the story and time ran away with me. I read it in one sitting.
I loved Natalia, she arrived in New York City fresh faced and wanting to step out of the shadow of her mother whose own dancing dreams were destroyed by an injury. Natalia is no pushover and I loved her snippy side especially when it came to her room mate Kingsley and ultimately this led them to being great friends.
Samson was a sweetheart, sexy boys can dance too ya know..
I loved his cockiness and above all his honesty. He was in a relationship with his high school sweetheart Aubrey but having the space in New York gave him the time to evaluate if he was in the relationship by his own choice or due to external (namely parental) forces.
I loved the sexiness and sensuality when Natalia and Samson danced, they definitely had chemistry! And that inevitably flowed into their personal life too.
I liked that we got to read from not only Natalia’s point of view but Samson’s as well. It was easier to connect with them and the story from their point of view. Even Kingsley and Aubrey got a chapter too. Kingsley and Wren-who was Samson’s-friend had a relationship in the background so I can’t wait for their book next to learn their story! If Kingsley’s fiery attitude is anything to go by the story will be explosive.
Like all good love stories there is conflict and it did add to the drama but I couldn’t help but want more, more from the story and the author. Just slightly more gritty and depth to make this great book fantastic.
In the Air was a great début from Crystal Serowka and I can’t wait for the next one.
