*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
I was DESPERATE for this second instalment, and I mean crazy desperate, I awoke early when I was in NOLA for #RT14 and read it whilst my roommates slept, there was no way Andrew was arriving on my kindle and I was going to keep him waiting! Of course, when you love a book so much your expectations are high and the pressure of the second instalment is huge. I devoured this book within the hour, I’m not sure if I even paused for breath, so afterwards I was confused when I was left feeling a little deflated, but you see I can’t decide if it was due to the content or the ridiculous level of giddiness I had expected to feel on completion.
Upon reflection, all the elements that I loved about the first book are there; Aubrey’s smart mouth, Andrew’s dry wit and his sexy, sexy demeanour. There were even twists that I didn’t understand, I was angry at Andrew one minute thinking he had done the exact same thing he accused Aubrey of doing then the next minute my conspiracy meter was going crazy and I was thinking did he have no choice?? So you see, this review probably makes no sense and to be honest my thoughts still remain scrambled. I didn’t love it as fiercely as the first instalment but I have a feeling the final part will give me back that high I’m searching for.
My favourite part of the story was Andrew slowly but surely integrating Aubrey into his life, even if he was kicking and screaming the whole way (although you could tell he secretly loved it).
"Aubrey, I don't..." He sighed.
"I've never let someone spend the night."
"Then let me be your first..."
. . .
"Are you happy?" he whispered.
"Are you sure? Is there anything else outside my comfort zone that you'd like me to do for you tonight?"
"Not tonight, but you could make me breakfast in the morning."
"You're pushing it..."
"Just in case you change your mind, I would like Belgian waffles, bacon, sliced strawberries and orange juice."
"Unless you want to eat all of those things off my cock, it's not happening." He pinched my ass. "Go to sleep, Aubrey."
There was another bombshell at the end so now I'm desperate for all the blanks to be filled in, and a big HEA would be lovely as well!
