Seduce Me is the fourth book in the Billionaire Banker series. It’s part companion novel and part continuation told through the eyes of a minor character. At first, I was confused why Julie was telling Blake and Lana’s story, as she wasn’t close to the couple or had played a major role up until now. Surprisingly, once Julie’s story really got going I enjoyed it. I liked her character and the introduction of Vann as well. He had the brooding artist persona going on.
The very first chapter was told in Blake’s point of view and he explained to the reader why we were seeing his story through Julie’s eyes. I must admit, this brought me out of the story and it felt like an add-on to pacify readers. Julie did have an interesting story to tell and I felt she should have had a companion novel on her own, the first 30% of the story was about Blake and Lana and it slowed the pace of Julie’s story. Also because of Julie’s feelings towards Lana, it was very hard to warm to Julie as her bitter feelings came to the surface. Once Julie’s story really began, I discovered the reason behind her personality and I felt for her.
When Vann Wolfe appeared on the scene, things got very interesting. Julie was hung up on unrequited love and Vann offered Julie lessons in seduction to get her man. I liked the change in Julie’s character over the course of her story. She had issues with her food and weight and her insecurity ruled her actions. Vann made her feel more confident and happier within her own skin and it was a change for the better. Of course, by the time Julie realised her lessons of Seduction may be more than that with Vann, his own secret came to light and Julie had to prove her love was genuine.
I didn’t see the twist with Vann coming and I felt this was very well done. Both he and Julie were interesting characters and I did enjoy their story. As the series progresses I find myself warming to Georgia’s writing. She certainly captured the emotion and sexual tension between both Vann and Julie. It’s the rough edges, like Blake’s random pov scenes within Julie’s story that need refined in order for me to enjoy the book fully.
Once Seduce Me hit its stride, it was an enjoyable story and just another layer in the Billionaire Banker series. The drama between Blake and Lana continues and will no doubt heat up in the final instalment. If you are a fan of the series so far, then you need to check this one out.
