Wow! This book is dark, gritty and not for the faint of heart. From the very first chapter my attention was caught. This is not your average motorcycle club story. For a start it is told from the female point of view of the main character Juliette or Sammi as she will soon be known. Juliette suffered the worst fate imaginable, she then had to flee for her life and she spent the last six years in hiding. But Juliette has used that time to grow in strength, she is no longer young, weak and afraid now she only has one thing on her mind: pure, cold revenge.
I thought the story started off with a bang and I was drawn to Juliette's character, I was automatically worried for her as the only way she could enact her revenge was to infiltrate the MC club that took her father and her innocence away from her. Juliette is walking a dangerous line, she was in hiding as the MC club were told she was dead so if anyone was to uncover the truth and see through her cosmetic changes then indeed this time her death would not be faked.
There are flashbacks to the awful time Juliette had to endure and of course I automatically hate each and every member of the MC club. That is why I squirmed when reading about the lengths Juliette went to in order to secure her place in the club. I knew this was her only way in to put her revenge in motion but still, the thought of what she had to do and who with, made some uncomfortable reading for me. (I don't agree with this part in the slightest.) With that being said, it was a kind of situation where I knew it was wrong but I was so engrossed anyway. I'm on Juliette's side and want to see her take down every last guy!
There is so much going on that I shouldn't be thinking about love interests, Juliette has a dangerous job on her hands but the romantic in me can't help it. There are two potential suitors but I am left confused. Elliott was the policeman who save Juliette's life, they tried to have a relationship and it didn't work. He's back on the scene and Juliette needs his help. I'm not sure where this relationship is going to go and I will be interested to see how it develops.
Then we have Jase, I can tell Jase is going to become integral to Juliette and the story but for just now, I can't warm to him because he is one of the brothers. My rational brain tells me he fought for Juliette at every turn but I just can't help feel he should be punished too. And with Juliette's current sleeping arrangements can anything happen between them anyway? Again, I look forward to see how this one changes over the course of the story.
Juliette was slick, clever and her scheming paid off right at the end. Phase one is now complete and Juliette is empowered to move on. I really can't wait to discover her next move and to witness the fall out from her deadly actions.
I am so intrigued with this story and where it is going to go. I am really looking forward to the next part. I liked Lili St. Germain's writing, the story was well detailed and fast paced. My attention was kept throughout the book and for only 100 pages I got more than I bargained for. This is definitely something different and worth a read.
Lili writes dark romance. Her debut serial novel, Seven Sons, was released in early 2014, with the following books in the series to be released in quick succession. Lili quit corporate life to focus on writing and is loving every minute of it. Her other loves in life include her gorgeous husband, good coffee, hanging at the beach and running. She loves to read almost as much as she loves to write.
