I loved the first book, Seven Sons, it was a dark, guilty pleasure and I couldn't wait for book two. I'll be perfectly honest, I held out for the book to go one sale, as it is a short novella of only 90 or so pages I thought the price was set high. I'm glad it was worth the wait.
Juliet is still immersed in the snake pit that is the Gypsy Brother's world. After taking out Chad, Maxi was the next victim. Juliet had to make her move, whilst playing a very dangerous game with Dornan, as well as keeping her heart safe from Jase. Neither task was an easy feat.
My skin crawled whenever Dornan appeared or was mentioned but this proves the author has written his character well. I should never wish death on anyone but I really can't wait for Dornan to get what's coming to him. Juliet is reckless at times and puts herself in harms way, all in the name of getting her revenge. This girl is possessed and will not stop until revenge is sought.
"He took my father, my life, and now I have taken his oldest son from him. The taste of his sorrow beckons me, and I repeat my actions on his left cheek, this time darting my tongue out to catch his despair and drink it up, every last drop."
As this was the finished version I purchased, there were spelling mistakes, missing words and grammatical errors that I picked up on whilst reading, I'm normally not one to notice or let it bother me but when I had to read a sentence a few times over to make sense of it, I was pulled from the story and couldn't help but make note. Small issues like this can make all the difference from a fantastic read to an average read.
The story progressed a little slower in this episode, but we got to know Juliet more, and witness her love for Jase. My heart was in my mouth for most of the book as I feared for Juliet and her life, that girl doesn't flirt with danger, she's in bed with it. Literally.
"I'm not doing this because I'm strong. I'm doing this because I'm scared of the monster in my head. The monster in my bed, the one who killed my father. The monster who destroyed me. I'm doing this because I just want to be able to sleep at night without seeing his face."
If you aren't opposed to questionable heroines, sleazy characters and some dark elements (luckily for me, I love it all ;-)) then you need to read this series! I can't wait for the next instalment and for the next brother in line to meet his maker.
Lili writes dark romance. Her debut serial novel, Seven Sons, was released in early 2014, with the following books in the series to be released in quick succession. Lili quit corporate life to focus on writing and is loving every minute of it. Her other loves in life include her gorgeous husband, good coffee, hanging at the beach and running. She loves to read almost as much as she loves to write.
