“When I first saw you I fell in love and you smiled because you knew.” – Arrigo Boito
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
I really enjoyed book one, Losing Control, I fell in love with both Ian and Tiny and I couldn’t wait for the conclusion to their story.
From book one, I found Tiny to be a really interesting character, she was different from the average heroine but she was one of the strongest. Tiny lost her mother and Taking Control picks up in the aftermath. Tiny is lost and questioning her life and what Ian sees in her. She feels their social differences as well as their difference in education and wealth. Tiny needs to find her self-worth again.
“I promise,” she vows solemnly. “I promise I will protect myself because I am your heart.”
“Tiny and I together are an undefeatable team. Strong enough to overcome hate, revenge, and loss. We will take control of our lives together.”
Ian was always hell bent on revenge, he wanted to take down the man that destroyed his father and tore his family apart. At the end of Losing Control, Ian was beginning to realise having Tiny in his life knocked off his priorities and revenge was soon the last thing on his mind. But of course it isn’t long until Ian discovers, his enemies may not leave Ian and Tiny alone to live a quiet life.
“I want to fill my life with the laughter of our children rather than hate for my enemies. I’ve spent the better part of my life alone with only revenge on my mind.”
I was looking forward to this book, as it was time to be in Ian’s head. He was a strong, demanding Alpha and I couldn’t wait to discover all his thoughts. I must say I was surprised by Ian’s point of view, he wasn’t at all what I was expecting and he certainly had a one track mind. For the first half of the story, being in Ian’s head was a little repetitive. I understood Tiny changed him for the better, and I got that she was the love of his life but every thought in Ian’s head was about sex and Tiny or having sex with Tiny. I must say, I wanted more for Ian and I felt the storyline got derailed a little, as all Ian wanted to do was have Tiny naked and ready every waking minute of the day. Don’t get me wrong, I loved both characters, I understood their love, I just wanted to see it expressed in more than one way.
That was my only issue with the story, after 50%, the storyline picked up, Ian had enemies to defeat and Tiny to protect. There was drama at the end I didn’t see coming and Ian’s friends proved they were there for him in his hour of need. I must admit some of the business talk and stock shares went over my head, I didn’t get what half of it meant, I was just glad in the end when Ian was back on top.
“Your love made me strong. Had I once thought love weakened me? I’d gotten it all wrong. Love made me a better person, and with Tiny, I had all the more in my life than one person could ever acquire.”
It was great to see Tiny come in to her own, she wanted to prove to Ian that she was his worthy equal and she succeeded. Kaga, Ian’s friend, took on a bigger role and I am interested in reading his story.
As usual, I enjoyed Jen Frederick’s writing; I always know I am in for an entertaining read with some endearing characters. There were plenty of swoony moments and Ian was well and truly bewitched by Tiny.
“I’m starting to believe in soul mates and life in the hereafter, because one lifetime won’t be enough with Victoria Corielli.”
“It’s immensely pleasing she’s curious. I want her to know everyone in my life and vice versa. Our lives should be so intertwined that it would take forever to untangle the threads.”
If you loved Losing Control then you need to read the conclusion to Tiny and Ian’s Journey ASAP!
