When I read the synopsis of this book I was instantly intrigued. As much as I loved Claire's other books, this one just didn't do it for me.
I won't go into detail on what happens in the book because that will just give away almost the whole plot. When I first started reading it, I was genuinely curious about Amara and about what she was going to go through after the 'catch' was revealed. But after a few chapters, I found myself getting bored and wanting to smack the main character.
My main problem with this book was the fact that I couldn't connect to anyone, especially Amara. Yes, what is happening to her is pretty bad but at the same time I felt nothing for what she was going through. I also found myself a bit confused about who Amara's love interest was. I think the book would've been more interested to me if she would have fallen for the 'devil.'
The twist at the end I saw coming a mile away thanks to a certain character's point of view (which I thought was unnecessary.)I also didn't like that sometimes a scene ended abruptly and I often found myself rereading the scene to make sure I hadn't missed something.
This book was just not for me, so don't let my rating discourage you. The beginning was good and interesting, but I just lost interested after a few chapters.
