“In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun…” ~ Kayla
What should have been the perfect night for Mikayla Jones ends up being the worst night of her life. Two people that she loved and trusted betrayed her, and the people whom she loves more than anything in the world are taken away in the worse way possible. In a short space of time, her world is turned upside down. On that same night, you could call it fate or destiny, she meets Jake Andrews who turns out to be simply amazing.
Kayla was friendly, funny, sarcastic, and even after all that she went through Kayla was such a strong character. Within the first few chapters my heart when out for her. Jake is kind, caring and just the perfect friend. From the very beginning Jake takes care of Kayla, being the rock, the support that she needs when her heart is shattered, and he is there to help her piece some of it back together and move on with her life. No question about it you will love Jake Andrews.
“I think I’m love with this beautifully broken girl” ~ Jake
“Do not settle for anything less that the Jake Andrews of the world. Because they exist, and not just in fairytales.” ~ Kayla
Kayla and Jake are such a great couple together, but they do they have their ups and downs, and misunderstandings, Okay I will say the lack of communication did irritate me at times. The relationship in not instalove which makes a change from some of the New adult books that I have read lately, it builds up very slowly and it was lovely to watch it develop but boy a few times even I was frustrated at how slow they did go. The feelings Kayla and Jake have for each other are deep and passionate, and WOW talk about sexual tension at times. This book had some hot steamy moments even though there is hardly any sex. I wasn’t disappointed, and you know me I love a bit of smut
“And if this happens, when this happens, planets are going to collide, and the world around us will explode.” ~ Jake
“The sexual tension between Jake and I is off the charts. I’m actually scared I might combust any second. No joke” ~ Kayla
The story is about love, loss, friendship, strength, hope, healing and finding happiness. Told from both points of view, which as you know I love, really lets you get inside Kayla and Jake heads.
It started off with a bang, and after 17% I was hooked I knew I was not going to put it down until I had finished it. I really did love this book. It wasn’t too high on the drama, I cried, I laughed, I wanted to punch a few people, and bang their heads together with others. Jay McLean without a doubt took me on that emotional roller coaster that I love in a book.
This book had some awesome secondary characters both Kayla and Jake’s families are lovely and very funny. Then there are Jake’s friends Logan, Cam, Lucy, Heidi and Dylan, I loved them just as much as Kayla and Jake. I love their friendship; their banter, and how they all are truly there for each other. Logan could be an ass, but he was sweet, and his heart was in the right place. (So glad he is getting his own book)
“He’s seen you at your worst and he still fell in love with you. Like, truly, the forever kind of love with you. And I’m sorry, because I think you are wrong. Maybe you don’t need to be a complete person, or maybe you do. But maybe, he’s it. Maybe he’s the other half of you.” ~Logan
I Loved Lucy, especially drunk Lucy as she was too funny. There was even a character that I did not like at the start, but by the end I warmed to them.
Jay McLean has written a book that pulled me in from the start, I like her writing style, and I found the story flowed really well. She created characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. Her reference to The Sea Of Tranquility, Ludacris, One Direction and Justin Bieber made me laugh, and no I’m not a Belieber.
Don’t worry there is not a cliffhanger, just a sweet epilogue. I will tell you on the very last page there is a twist that will leave you open mouthed. I would recommend that you go and 1-click this book as I don’t think you will be disappointed.
“God Jake, I so much more than a lot like you.” “Mikayla, I passed that stage a long, long time ago.”
“You’ll know in that moment, through that kiss, that you’ve just let someone own a piece of your heart, and you’ll live happily ever after.” ~ Kayla

This book was such a refreshing change; I just love it when the main character is curvy, and not your typical tall, slender girl that you usually get in New Adult books.
Melanie Crane is Maddy’s best friend, and after reading the last book in the series Let Love Stay, I was glad that Melanie was getting her own book as I got the impression that she was dealing with some issues, and I was right, she was.
Melanie is a great character, and her story is one that I believe many young girls, and women are going to able to relate to I certainly could. Melanie’s insecurities and negative thoughts mean that she has a hard time believing that someone as hot and gorgeous as Bryan Mahoney could not only fancy her, but also want to date her.
I loved the storyline I knew it was going to be emotional when the prologue had me in tears. My emotions were all over the place while I read this book. I cried, got crossed, I laughed, I was anxious, and I cried some more, especially when reading the letters from Melanie’s father. I loved the banter, the romance, and that it had plenty of hot sexy smut.
The first part of the book is told in the past and present, it works and flows really well. The past gave me an insight into how Melanie and Bryan’s relationship started, and then developed. Melanie and Bryan are really cute, and good together. Bryan was a sweetheart, and I loved the way he was with Melanie, but he too has his own family problems and struggles that he needed to overcome.
Told from Melanie’s POV it was heart breaking but also heart warming to read, as I could feel all her emotions, how she views herself, her insecurities, and how misunderstandings, miscommunications, trust issues and not opening up cause problems in her relationship with Bryan. I won’t lie she did frustrate me at times, but yet despite this, so many times I wanted to give her a hug, and say I know exactly how you are feeling as I have been there and felt that way too.
It was great to see characters from the first two books such as Maddy, Reid, Cammie, Jake, and Lia. I was happy for Momma C and look forward to reading her story. There is also a new roommate Peyton, and I couldn’t help but wonder if she will be getting her own book at some point.
Overall I loved this book, I didn’t want to put it down. It had an epilogue that left me with a smile on my face. Melissa Collins has done an amazing job of capturing the feelingS, and insecurities of many young girls, and even women who struggle every day with their body image and feeling beautiful. I have loved being on Melanie’s journey of self discovery as she learned to love herself, overcome her fears, and her insecurities, move forward with her life and find her HEA that she so deserved.
I have to say without a doubt Let love Heal was for me the best book of the series so far and one that I would recommend. It was just a brilliant, beautifully written and moving read that I know is going to stay with me for a long time.
“I was expecting someone more along the lines of Sheldon Cooper from “The big Bang Theory”, but what I got was Bradley Cooper from “The Hangover”. That’s two very different Coopers” ~ Melanie
“There was something about you. I could tell from the moment I met you, that you were different. That you saw beauty in the things that other people might ignore” ~ Bryan
“There’s a fire igniting between us, and now that he’s shown father and explained why he wants to be with me, I’m going to let that fire burn- brightly and beautifully” ~ Melanie.
“You’re not like the other girls that you think every guy wants. You’re a breath of fresh air” ~ Bryan
“I’ve never felt more like myself than when I’m with Bryan. I’m not different or better or skinner or anything like that. I don’t have to be the perfect version of myself that I present to everyone else. I’m just me, and what’s really crazy is that when I’m with him, I’m happy about who I am.” Melanie
