Callie and Kayden are one of my favorite Jessica Sorensen couples. Actually, they are one of my favorite couples..period! From book one, I always looked forward to a Callie and Kayden book. The crazy thing is that it feels like I have known this couple for like EVER! They have gone through such a journey that a resolution to all the crazy in their lives was what I was looking forward to the most (even if I am super sad that we no longer will have more Callie and Kayden in the future.)
I can be honest and say that I had super high expectations for this book. This was the book where we will finally get to see the people the did Callie and Kayden wrong get what they deserved and to see them get their happily ever after. I loved the connection these two have. You can definitely feel the love they feel for one another, and page after page fall even more in love with them. The problem I had was not with the characters themselves. Yes, Kayden is still fighting those demons from his past, but you know that with the help of Callie they will be a distant memory. My problem was the way everything was wrapped up. From the beginning we know something is about to go down with Kayden's dad, but we never get a first-hand account of what is going on which left me emotionally distant from the situation. Another thing was when we once again encounter Caleb. I was expecting this big blow out and feeling excited about the fact that this person finally got a fraction of what he deserved, but those feelings were never evoked.
Overall, I really enjoyed this final look at Callie and Kayden's life. I am sad to see them go. As a reader, I went through every happy moment and tribulation they faced so it feels like letting go of a couple of great friends. If you haven't read this series, yet, what are you waiting for?! Trust me, you won't regret it.
As much as I love and adore Callie and Kayden, this book was a bit of a disappointment. Ok, maybe disappointment is too strong of a word, or perhaps I was just expecting too much of an epic ending for one of my favourite couples. It's not that I didn't like it, because I really do love reading about them, it's just that nothing really happened. They took some trips down memory lane and crossed off some more to-do's from Callie's list. Sure they finally learned to move on from the past, but it was a little bit of a lackluster end of that journey for me.
At one point Callie ran into Caleb, the guy who raped her, her brother called the cops. He was put into jail, end of story. It would have been nice to have a little story attached to that fact. What exactly happened to him? Even the part about Kayden's father was a little anti-climatic. I felt that after what happened it would have been nice to see a little more of how Kayden moved past all of his feelings about the situation. I guess the emotional attachment to the story, for me, just wasn't there like it was in the previous two books.
I do have to say though, all that aside, I enjoyed them. I would always read whatever Jessica gives for them, they are a couple I will always remember. Kayden also grew up in the ways of becoming a swoon-worthy book boyfriend. His romantic potential is huge. Callie is certainly one lucky girl. As is Kayden for having someone as strong as her by his side. These two went from the kind of kids I want to fix and keep safe forever, to a couple in love with a blooming future of true love I could never get enough of. I'm kind of sad this is the end. Perhaps it's time for a book one re-read?

The Redemption of Calli & Kayden had everything that Jessica Sorensen usually brings to the table. It was dark, twisted, and heartbreaking.
The story starts off about a week after the shocking ending of book one. I won't give much away in case you haven't read book one since these books are NOT stand-alones and book one ended one a cliffhanger.
Kayden. Kayden broke my heart page after page. If he was in a dark place before, he is much worse this time around. Kayden's darkness kind of gets to Callie and she goes a little into the Callie she was before, not the happy person she has become.I love this couple, but not everything is rainbows and puppies for them. To tell you the truth, most of this book is a little depressing, but I really enjoyed it. It made the characters seem even more real.
I don't want to give anything from the story away, but let me just say that this story was a rollercoaster of emotions. It had a lot of angst, but it does end on a high note. There are still some loose ends than need to be tied up, so I hope that happens in book three.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Jessica Sorensen is one of my favorites and she did not disappoint yet again. She brought me to tears and Kayden broke my heart more than once.
