Screwdrivered...when I read the title I maybe expected lots of screwing if you know what I mean *wink wink*. Turns out it is a different kind of screwing. Perhaps an actual screwdriver, as in the tool OR the emotional screwing over of ones mind OR the screwing over of plans one has for something OR...ok it doesn't really matter because even though the book didn't contain a lot of my favourite kind of screwing, I still loved it! Disclaimer: There was hot screwing, eventually!
Lets just talk about Hank for a minute and get him out of the way. Sure he may be nice to look at, but that's where all his appeal ends. He's a jerk. I wanted Clark to punch him in the face and make him less nice to look at. And, if you have ever seen those videos of people at petting zoo's getting licked in the face by a camel, imagine that when you dream about kissing him. He's gross, don't even bother trying to like him. Enough said!
From the moment Viv and Clark met, there were sparks. Sparks of pure annoyance, that is. I loved the way Viv teased Clark. It would make him so mad I could just picture his face turning red! It was all so fun, a little flirty and a smidge dirty. Their banter kept me thinking "How are these two just going to get over this and come together?". If you could annoy someone into falling in love with you, these two were certainly on the right track.
When Viv fell through the porch floor and had to get Clark to come save her...After that point I wondered through-out the whole book if he really did what she thought he did. I won't tell you if he did it though, you'll have to read to find that out. But OMG Clark!! HAHAHAHA I think I fell in love with him right then and there!
I loved when Nighttime Clark made his appearances. "You've never heard me do a number of things, Vivian. You have no idea what I might sound like." Clark was really able to be the sexy man Viv was hoping for during these periods. He was no longer just the "rocker of elbow patches" to Viv. They became friends, two people that found their own way to get along and get to know each other. This was an important part of their relationship, something that really solidified their feeling for one another. These conversations made me face-hurt-smile.
The only thing I wished I could have seen in the story, is the moment Viv's parents meet him, some of more of Clark's background and perhaps a little town outing for the two when they were officially official.
This book, in true Alice Clayton form, has the witty funnies that will keep you entertained through-out. I dig her kind of humour and I love how her character fall in love. I love how they are funny and easy and not weighed down by any heavy emotionally broken pasts. I can't get enough! And now the wait continues, yet again, for the next book...MAI'TAI'D UP!!
Alice Clayton is a novelist with an unholy love for her KitchenAid mixer. Making her home in St Louis, she enjoys gardening but not weeding, baking but not cleaning up afterwards, and is trying desperately to get her long time boyfriend to make her an honest woman. Hi sweetie!!
After working for years in the cosmetics industry as a makeup artist, esthetician, and national educator for a major cosmetics company, Alice picked up a pen (read laptop) for the first time at 33 to begin a new career, writer. Combining her love of storytelling with a sense of silly, she was shocked and awed to be nominated for a Goodreads Author award in 2010 for her debut novels, The Redhead Series.
Alice has penned three novels, The Unidentified Redhead,The Redhead Revealed, and coming soon in November 2012, Wallbanger. She thinks you should purchase them immediately. She’s not kidding, not even a little bit. Everyone needs some comedic erotica in their lives. She is hard at work on the third book in The Redhead Series, set to release in Spring of 2013, continuing the saucy and sexual escapades of everyone’s favorite couple, Jack and Grace.
Additionally, Alice loves spending time with her besties on Not Your Mother's Podcast, make sure you check them out at notyourmotherspodcast.com or over on iTunes. 3 women rushing towards their forties still acting like teenagers. A saucy little mix of sex, love, relationships, pop cultural, celebrity gossip and All Things Jake Ryan.
Alice enjoys pickles, Bloody Mary’s, 8 hours of sleep, and a good pounding.
Finally Alice would also like all her readers and listeners to help her convince Mr. Alice that the only other thing that would make her truly happy is finally bringing home a Bernese Mountain Dog. She is totally serious. And done talking about herself in the third person…
