5 months… That’s how long I had to wait for this book after I finished Connected. 5 long months!
The story almost picks up from where it left off. I’m not one for skipping parts of books, but I should have skipped the first chapter. It was Dahl’s pov in the hospital after she had been attacked. I didn’t feel like it added anything to the story, so why keep me waiting to get to the good stuff even longer? Frustrating, but so worth the wait!
2 words, one song… Amazing Grace. This song is like the happiness ruiner in the series, nothing ever good comes of hearing this ring tone. I’m pretty sure the next time I hear this song it’ll make me cringe.
This was my first experience with a book about the ex-love coming back from the dead and tries to mess up everything kind of book. I had so many visions of a love triangle and betrayal running through my head the entire time I was reading, I was always afraid to turn the page. Afraid what Ben was going to do to cause drama between River and Dahlia’s relationship. I seriously had to keep putting the book down, I didn’t want to read about River getting his heart torn out. And the thought of River going away on tour with his band and leaving Dahl at home… Ya, that has disaster written all over it!
But as hard as Ben tried, he obviously didn’t try hard enough, and Dahlia wasn’t fool enough to fall for all his excuses of why he did what he did. I kind of thought I would have felt a little sympathy for Ben, but that never happened. Maybe it’s just because I love River so much and despite some of Dahlia’s thoughtless actions, I wanted them to have their HEA. Their love for each other just wasn’t weak enough to break under the pressure.
Without giving away spoilers I do have to mention the part when Ben shows up at River’s unexpectedly and collides with another part of his past… OMG! And the story that goes along with that past… OMFG!
Things that I loved…
Hot angry sex. The mention of a certain other fictional rock star, Kellan Kyle, oh how I wished he could have actually made an appearance and maybe even partied with River and his band, now that would have been epic! And I also thought it was pretty cool how Kim inserted a few blog names into the story. And of course the ending, the HEA, finally! River’s romantic gestures that will melt even the hearts of the most unromantic people out there.
There is plenty of drama and angst in this book to keep you satisfied and perhaps even a little cursing at your kindle will take place. I am so looking forward to the rest of the books in this series, I know Xander is up next and he will be awesome, but I really wish I could have Belle’s story next because this book made me love her and I need to read her story, now!
I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.
I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don't need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There's nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore--it's time I love and cherish.
I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.
